Steps to remove and upgrade ATX Power Supply Unit 1) Remove the Side Panel After Unplugging PC Disconnect the PC from the main power supply and remove the main side panel so as to get a clear view of the internal components. 2) Take a Photo of Inside This step is for beginners only so that it will provide the reference to them when they are about to fit a new power supply unit. 3) Unplug Connectors with PSU and Remove the Existed PSU This is one of the main step which require some patience and effort as one need to unplug many connectors and the PSU and thus wearing an antistatic wristband is a must. Inside the panel you will have to identify the PSU which is a square shape box at the zenith of the case and the the other way to locate it is finding numerous wires coming from it. Disconnect the PSU from each and every component of the computer. After disconnecting the PSU with other components of computer you need to remove the PSU. 4) Install Upgraded PSU After removing the old one You need to install the new/ upgraded PSU and follow the same steps which had used earlier for removing the old one. Install the PSU → connect the PSU with other components of computer → Assembled 5) System Testing It is recommended to test your system before re-fitting the side panel so as to not have to open it again in case of error and to cross check each and every connection of the ATX Power Supply Unit is accurate. 6) Switch on the Main Power After Assembling the Same The final step is to ensure that every device of the computer is working properly and for that purpose you will have to open the same and work on it to test your sysroperly working or not.
